The Mounir Horses stable
A natural, traditional place for raising horses, at Oued Laou in northern Morocco.

Since June 2023
The stable was founded in June 2023 and belongs to Mr Mounir Barqad, of the Barqad family. It has been widening what it offers ever since.
It is first of all a place where horses are raised: animals that are looked after and ridden every day, and a stable that runs to their rhythm rather than to the booking sheet's.
Four bloodlines
The stable keeps horses of several bloods, among them the local strain that has marked this stretch of coast for a long time.
The Arabian
Lighter and quicker, the fine head and the carriage you recognise from a distance.
The Arab-Barb
The cross of the two: the Barb's stamina and the Arabian's spark. The working horse of this country.

The line that has distinguished Oued Laou for generations, bred out of this ground and this climate.
What the stable does
- Horseback rides
- From half an hour to three hours, on the beach, in the river, through the forest or up on the ridges.
- Learning to ride
- Beginners' workshops run by a professional instructor.
- Training young riders
- Continuing tuition for children and beginners who want to learn properly.
- Boarding and care
- Stabling and looking after horses placed in the stable's charge.
- Guided outings
- Out to the sea, the valleys, the mountains and the forests of northern Morocco.

Between the plains, the mountains and the river
The stable is one of the more distinctive places in the Tanger-Tétouan-Al Hoceïma region. It sits in a natural setting that brings the plains, the mountains and the riverbed together in one place.
Oued Laou is about 40 kilometres from Tétouan, close to the N16, the national coast road that runs along the Mediterranean.
The village belongs to the mountains as much as to the sea, and the welcome is the one people here give: you are taken in, and you want to come back.
