Three landscapes
The sea on one side, the mountains on the other
Oued Laou sits on a narrow strip between the Rif mountains and the Mediterranean. In a single ride the landscape changes three times.
The forests
Inland, shaded tracks that climb gently towards the first slopes of the Rif.
The plains
The farmed land of the valley, the orchards and the dirt roads between the river and the hills.
The stable
Local horses, and a guide who knows the ground
Mounir Horses is a family stable at Oued Laou, on the Mediterranean coast of northern Morocco. Rides set out from Parc Midayous and follow routes the stable covers all year round.
You pick the format when you book: half an hour to try it, an hour to find your rhythm, two or three hours to get properly out along the river and come back along the beach.

Straight out to the sea, on wet sand. The most requested ride, and the finest one late in the afternoon.

The sunrise or sunset ride has its own prices and its own timing, set by the light rather than by the clock.

Parc Midayous
Quiet, in the middle of the countryside
بارك ميدايوس
The rides set out from Parc Midayous and come back to it. It is a terrace in the shade of the trees at Oued Laou, run by the same family as the stable.
You have breakfast there before riding, or a tagine and a mint tea on the way back. Anyone not riding spends the day there.

Between the Rif and the sea
Oued Laou is a village on the Mediterranean coast, in the province of Tétouan, in northern Morocco. The coast road puts it about 40 kilometres from Tétouan; Chefchaouen lies inland, less than an hour away over the mountains.

Before you book
How do I book a ride?
On WhatsApp, or by phone on +212 636 71 17 62. Give the date, the time you want, the length and the number of riders, and the stable confirms the slot.
Do I need to know how to ride?
No. The half-hour and the hour are made for a first time. The two- and three-hour formats ask for a little comfort in the saddle, so say what level you are when you book.
Where do the rides set out from?
From Parc Midayous at Oued Laou, in Tétouan province. The park is also where the ride comes back to.
What landscapes do you ride through?
The beaches of the Mediterranean coast, the forests inland and the farmed plains of the valley. The river-and-sea route strings two of them together.
Is there food on site?
Yes. Parc Midayous serves Moroccan breakfasts, tagines, salads, mint tea and cold drinks. The full menu is on this site.
What does a ride cost?
From 150 DH for thirty minutes to 570 DH for three hours. The beach and river-and-sea rides are 270 DH, swimming with the horses is 370 DH, and the sunrise or sunset ride runs from 270 to 550 DH.
